This can vary massively from job to job and location, however I can give you a few examples, for a straight swap like for like at low level with a inexpensive light prices should be arround £50-80. A high level like for like swap with a mid range priced light should be about £80-120 An outside like that need a new circuit/wiring should be starting at £120 upwards. Many things could increase the cost of this type of install and any good electrician would want to come and have a look before giving a price.

This really isn't a question that can't be answered without knowing more about the details of the installation. Where is the light do I need special equipment to access it. is there already an existing light that just needs swapping or does it need wiring from scratch, do I need to lift floorboards, what type of switch or sensors. What style fittings, lights can cost from £10- hundreds of pounds.

This is a tricky question as every job is different and it will depend on area and where the fitting is being fitted. If the light is being fitted at height or there is a lot more than just removing a light and replacing with another then costs can vary quite significantly. It also comes down to if client is supplying the fitting and the price of the fitting. I would recommend lights to my clients as I have found that some light fittings are poorly made and would rather fit a good quality light at a reasonable price than charge a large price because I know that i'm going to run into issues with a cheap fitting.
