The advantages of hardwood flooring are the quality and variety. They are durable and stand the test of time. Easily maintained and will always add value to your property. Disadvantages of hardwood flooring are the cost to install. As well as this they can be noisy when walking across the floor especially in apartments or flats. Prone to scratching especially with pets.

The pros of hardwood floors Hardwood floors provide a classic look that can be customised to any home. Many people find carpets to be unsanitary and difficult to care for, where as a hardwood floor can be easily vacuumed and mopped. This is particularly important if anyone in your family suffers from allergies. If you choose real hardwood over a veneer finish, you can also sand down and refinish your floors over time, providing a beautiful, durable investment that can last for decades. The cons of hardwood floors Hardwood flooring is particularly vulnerable to moisture, so is not suitable for bathrooms or areas of high humidity, which will cause the boards to warp and bend. If you live above sensitive neighbours, remember that hardwood floors do not absorb noise as efficiently as a carpeted floor, so be ready for some complaints if you frequently wear shoes indoors (and sometimes even if you don't!). Certain types of hardwood flooring can be particularly vulnerable to dents and scratches from high heels, moving furniture and even pets. Be aware that you will have to pay careful attention to cleaning and caring for your floor to keep it looking its best.

Wood floors look beautiful in a home and really add something to the feel. They are particularly good for people with allergies as they do not harbour dust like carpets do. Varnished wood floors are particularly easy to look after, however oiled wood floors take a little more effort as they need to be oiled from time to time to keep up the protection.

Having hardwood flooring has many pros to benefit from Very easy to maintain and very durable, so very easy to deal with the kids having accidents. As your home grows your wood flooring will age with you which can create a whole new contrast to the original look. There are a few cons as there are in life which can be an issue with some but not all. Wood can collect a lot of dust which would need a sweep weekly to avoid dust tumble weeds drifting across the floors. You also may need to be cautious about wearing high heels with narrow heels as denting is prone to happen.
